Brutal Assault, a metal music festival, is restoring degraded forests.

Becoming a Green festival, they introduced Brutal Forest to reduce their environmental footprint.

In the Czech Republic, Brutal Assault, one of Europe’s biggest extreme metal festivals, is turning up the volume on climate action.

Brutal Assault festival has a project called the “Brutal Forest.” Together with Lesy ČR (the Czech state forest agency) and with help from their fans, they are restoring forests near the town of Josefov by planting new trees that are strong and able to withstand future climate stresses.

They are replanting tree species that are better able to withstand bark-beetle attacks, because bark beetles have caused massive damage to forests in the Czech Republic in recent years.

Every year, they organize new tree-planting activities, and in 2021 they planted 2,000+ trees to support forest recovery and reduce the festival’s environmental footprint.

Brutal Assault is on the road to becoming a “green festival.” They’ve joined Restor to show that even a metal festival can lead in nature restoration.
