Restoration needs social readiness to succeed at scale. GreenUp is building that foundation.

Community-led action and behavioural change are essential to scaling restoration.

Scaling restoration requires social readiness as much as technical solutions, whether that’s mangroves and forests coming back to life, community-led projects scaling across landscapes, or national policies supporting them. Restoration succeeds when people, institutions, and capital feel connected and when the everyday behaviours that ultimately shape long-term change.

That is why we are highlighting organisations like GreenUp, which work on the behavioural and community dimensions of climate action that enable systems change.

Since 2016, they have worked with individuals, organisations, and institutions to reduce environmental impact and build regenerative ways of living. Their journey from grassroots initiatives to a Swiss non-profit organisation with national reach illustrates how local, human-scale action can create the conditions for wider systems change.

The birth of Climate Hub Davos

Began as a community-led initiative, GreenUp runs local sustainability-focused events and projects in different locations in Switzerland. In Davos, particularly, their work began with nature-based and circularity projects that reconnected people with the surrounding ecosystems. They achieved that through community food gardens, ran workshops on biodiverse gardening, organised foraging trips, and launched an organic waste collection initiative.

During the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, GreenUp saw a deeper opportunity.  By working directly with event agencies and partners, they began addressing material reuse and circularity within one of the world’s most visible convenings of political and economic power. This collaboration, combined with their long-standing relationship with the city of Davos, laid the groundwork for something more ambitious: Climate Hub Davos.

Climate Hub Davos: where behaviour meets systems

Curated by GreenUp, Climate Hub Davos, hosted at Davos’ Cultural Centre during World Economic Forum week, is an open, impact-driven platform that acts as a catalyst for regenerative action. The event brings together leaders from different sectors to share solutions, form collaborations and inspire collective action.

Nicole Keller, GreenUp’s Managing Director, comments: “We saw an opportunity for an open space that elevates the voice of nature. A barrier-free space for meaningful dialogue and collaboration across industry, academia, government and civil society, all for the sake of nature”.

Behavioural shifts and community spaces create the cultural and social conditions that allow restoration projects to gain support, attract capital, and endure beyond short funding cycles.

That is why Restor will be participating in Climate Hub Davos 2026.

We’re delighted to invite you to join us in January, either in person or online, during Climate Hub Davos 2026. Restor will lead the session “From Data to Finance: Enhancing Restoration Monitoring to Unlock Sustainable Investment” on Thursday, 22 January 2026, at 14:00 CET

Beyond Climate Hub Davos

GreenUp continues to develop programmes that support regenerative living at multiple levels. These include the Employee Engagement Programme, which builds sustainability awareness in the workplace, and the GoSimple programme in Basel and Lausanne, guiding households through a four-month journey toward resource-light living.

GreenUp will also co-host “Regenerative Living 5.0” during Zürich Climate Week, extending these conversations beyond Davos and into everyday contexts across Switzerland.

Systems change does not begin in boardrooms alone. It begins with people, spreads through communities, and only then reshapes the policies, capital flows, and institutions that determine the future of restoration.
