Restor and Planters International Berhad, a Malaysia-based public company focused on forest management, ecosystem rehabilitation, and landscape restoration, have entered into a multi-year partnership to develop a new ecological reporting framework that will help restoration projects standardize field-based monitoring and communicate their impact more credibly.
As restoration and conservation projects attract growing attention from governments, investors, and funders, the demand for credible ecological data and transparent reporting has never been greater. Restoration projects are being asked to prove impact, but there is no simple, globally accessible way to report ecological outcomes.
Through this partnership, Planters will become a co-development partner for Restor's new feature, Ecological Ground Data Upload. The feature will enable restoration projects to upload a set of field-based ecological monitoring data to the Restor platform, improving transparency, simplifying reporting, and strengthening trust across the restoration sector.
With extensive experience in large-scale restoration and real-time ecological monitoring, Planters brings practical implementation expertise to the development process. Planters will help shape the ecological indicators used within the platform and pilot the feature through its restoration activities in Malaysia. The resulting tool will be made available to the wider Restor community.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Planters as our strategic co-development partner, leveraging their extensive experience in ecological monitoring. By co-developing the new Ecological Ground Data Upload feature, we are taking a major step toward standardizing impact reporting. Ultimately, this collaboration will empower thousands of projects to credibly communicate their outcomes, improving transparency and strengthening trust across the entire restoration sector." Claire Descreux, Director of Partnerships, Restor
The field-based ecological data available on Restor will align with global standards (FAO FERM, SER, TGBS) and undergo review by leading restoration experts (WWF, the Mangrove Breakthrough, Restor’s Science Advisory Council). This ensures a scientifically robust yet practical reporting baseline for restoration projects of all sizes.
Alongside technical development, Restor and Planters will co-author a white paper exploring the opportunity to simplify and standardize ecological impact reporting globally, laying the foundation for future tools to visualize restoration outcomes across entire landscapes.
